Hi so i think i must need a noob run down

install the package -
change compatibility to win 7? -
tick run as admin -
create a folder called windowersandbox on c: drive -
go into ffxi folder to see if its made a US and delete, i'm running EU -
link to launcher-gui (so i can have different res on each char) -
link to new windowersandbox folder -
click initalize sandbox -

nothing happens, can go in sandbox settings and mess with that but guessin thats just per char and i need the overall connection first

read that in the created folder will be made folders linked to ffxi? mine just stays empty, copyed the whole playonline and ffxi folder in there, still nothing, what am i not doing?

thx in advance running win 7 x64

still i think something must be missing, something i'm not doing, it's not creating some folder with part shortcuts to original ffxi folder?, the install feels "empty?"
took screen shots of what i've done but i've done everything in both threads (XI-Util & Sandbox), am i supposed to have something else installed aswell like this "dropbox?" atm i only have windower with most pluggin's and nothin else

Hello.
I'm planning on returning to FFXI sometime this month, wanted to confirm something regarding dual boxing on the same PC, so thought I'd ask here since it seemed relevant.

Does the sandbox option allow separate instances of Windower to be connected to different controllers? If not, is there any way to do that, currently?
I'd prefer it over setting up my old PC for my 2nd account.

Thanks a lot for any replies.

For some reason tonight sandbox is failing to load Windower. Tried rebooting my machine and still no go. Rather odd since it was working fine last night and this afternoon.

Not sure if any of this will help, this is from the log.txt of XI-Util.

Using Windows 7 64 bit version, English UK localization.
Steam version of Ultimate Collection Seekers edition, patched with EU files because the Steam version is US.

ok found out what the issue was, I messed around with the POL config the other day and it wrote another PlayOnlineUS registry key. Deleted that and it works now, but switching characters still causes POL to crash.

Frequently crashing when running 2 clients and switching to different characters. I get this error:

Runtime error!

repost from xi-util general forum/thread as it is related to the sandbox plugin

Hi

I know Xi-Util is barely supported but if anyone can help, I'll be glad.

Win7 64bit, since a few days, the first time I use Xi-Util after a reboot everything is fine (I only use sandbox). If I quit the game processes, then Xi-Util start to hog the system resources (cpu) when getting or losing focus, or any action in xi-util is slow, as well as Task Manager. But Chrome or other stuff is fine once they have focus.

Quitting all other applications will not solve the issue.
If I reboot, it's normal again.

If anyone has a clue thanks in advance.

PS1: I tried the direct-to-windower sandbox plugin once sometime ago but was unstable, and i'd like to keep my logs
PS2: to the above, if you are using Windower4, I believe that's normal (that's the way I use it). I believe there's a complicated way to get it to recognize the instances by launching them first in Windower 3, quit and relaunching in Windower 4 but never tried it (too much of an hassle)

Does this continue if you close or force close XI-Util? What plugins are you using? Can you try disabling 1 plugin each time and see if it continues to happen after each, and if it stops happening after you disable a certain plugin, if so you might want to post under that plugin's forum as a bug.

Yes, it keeps cpu-hogging after a quit or force quit.

Only WindowerSandbox is activated and indeed, the issue is linked to this plugin. If I undo the sandboxes, then xi-util becomes more responsive. But if I reinitialize the sandboxes without a reboot, it starts again to hog the cpu (even if I quit and relaunch xi-util before re-initializing the sandboxes.

Thanks

Hi there, i have been trying to dual box on one pc but i am having some issues with it. My PC wont accept 2 Windower clients running at the same time. I have since downloaded XI-Util and set up sandbox, after reading various posts this could possibly fix the problem. i have followed the set up for sandbox to the letter and have 2 sandboxs set for one for each i want to play and can run one instance no problem as soon as i try and run the next it crashes the other with the message"Windows encountered a problem....." the same as when i tried to run without using XI-Util. I also notice that when running an instance through XI-Util in the character section its displays as unknown character . I am rather new to windower and such and need a bit of guidance . i am running win 7 64bit only, UAC set to off, windower running as admin, any help or suggestions to help a noob out would be greatly appreciated. also not too sure what to set in the sandbox setting and not sure if this would have an impact on it operating properly. Mask affinity? windower ini? what are they and what do i do with them??
